SVG to ICO converter

Turn an SVG logo or icon into a multi-size .ico. Every size is drawn straight from the vector, so even 16 px stays crisp.

Converted in your browser. Your image is never uploaded.

How to convert SVG to ICO

To convert SVG to ICO, drop the .svg into the converter above, pick sizes from 16 to 256 px and download the .ico. AI Icon Creator draws every size straight from your vector in the browser, so small sizes stay sharp and the file is never uploaded.

  1. 01

    Add your SVG

Drop the .svg file, choose it or paste it. Logos exported from Figma, Illustrator or Inkscape all work.

  2. 02

    Pick sizes and a background

Keep transparency or add a solid colour. Wide logos can be padded or cropped to a square.

  3. 03

    Download the .ico

Each size is drawn from your vector and packed into one .ico, ready for a website or Windows.

What to know about SVG and ICO

An SVG is a vector image made of shapes rather than pixels, so it can be drawn at any size without blurring. An ICO file stores fixed pixel sizes, which is why each size is rendered separately from the vector.

Vectors scale cleanly

A PNG has to be shrunk to make a 16 px icon, which blurs thin lines. An SVG is redrawn at each size, so edges stay clean.

Fonts and linked images

Text in a font your computer doesn't have, or images linked from elsewhere, may not show. Convert text to outlines and embed images before exporting the SVG.

Thin details at 16 px

Hairlines and small text disappear at favicon size. Check the 16 px preview; a simpler version of the logo often reads better.

SVG to ICO: common questions

Short answers about formats, sizes and privacy.

  1. Can you convert SVG to ICO?

An SVG converts to ICO by being rendered at each icon size and packed into one .ico file. Add the SVG to the converter above, pick the sizes and download the result. Each size is drawn from the vector, not scaled down from one bitmap.

  2. Why convert from SVG instead of PNG?

Converting from SVG gives sharper small icons than converting from PNG. A vector is redrawn at 16, 32 and 48 px, while a PNG has to be shrunk from one large bitmap, which softens thin lines and small text. The difference is most visible at favicon sizes.

  3. Do browsers accept SVG favicons?

SVG favicons work in current Chrome, Firefox and Edge, but Safari and older browsers still look for favicon.ico or a PNG. Ship an .ico alongside any SVG favicon; the favicon converter builds the full set in one go. Most sites ship both formats.

  4. Is my SVG uploaded anywhere?

The AI Icon Creator SVG to ICO converter never uploads your SVG. Your own browser reads and draws it, nothing is sent to a server, and scripts inside SVG files are not run. It works the same for logos exported from Figma, Illustrator or Inkscape.

  5. What if my SVG isn't square?

A non-square SVG can be fitted inside a square with space around it (Keep the whole image) or cropped to fill the square (Crop to a square). You can also add a solid background colour behind a transparent logo. The preview updates as you switch.

  6. How do I turn my SVG logo into a favicon for my website?

To turn an SVG logo into a favicon, convert it to an .ico with 16, 32 and 48 px, or use the favicon converter to get the full set with Apple and Android icons. Check the 16 px preview first: a simplified mark usually reads better than the full logo.
