How to resize an app icon for iOS and Android

To resize an app icon, drop a 1024 × 1024 PNG into the resizer above and download the app icon pack. AI Icon Creator builds the iOS asset catalog, Android launcher and adaptive icons, the Play Store icon and the web icons in your browser, without uploading the image.

  1. 01

    Add your icon

A square PNG or SVG of 1024 × 1024 or larger. Smaller images work, but the biggest sizes will look soft.

  2. 02

    Check the preview

See it as a rounded iPhone icon, a round Android icon and a 16 px browser tab. If the round version looks cramped, keep the subject further from the edges.

  3. 03

    Download the pack

One ZIP with ios/, android/ and web/ folders and a README that says where each file goes.

What's in the app icon pack

iOS needs one 1024 px icon and Xcode makes the rest; Android still needs a launcher icon for each screen density plus an adaptive icon; websites need favicons and PWA icons. The pack covers all three.

iOS: AppIcon.appiconset

A single 1024 × 1024 opaque PNG with its Contents.json. Drag the folder into Assets.xcassets in Xcode 14 or later and it derives every other size. Keep the corners square; iOS rounds them.

Android: launcher and adaptive icons

Square and round launcher icons from mdpi to xxxhdpi, an adaptive icon (foreground layer and background colour) for Android 8 and later, and a 512 px Play Store icon. Copy android/res into app/src/main/res.

Web: favicons and PWA icons

favicon.ico, PNG favicons, the Apple touch icon, 192 and 512 px PWA icons, a maskable icon and site.webmanifest, plus the tags to paste into your page's <head>.

App icon resizing: common questions

Short answers about formats, sizes and privacy.

  1. How do I resize an app icon for iOS and Android?

Add a 1024 × 1024 image to the resizer above and download the app icon pack. It has the iOS asset catalog, Android launcher, round and adaptive icons for every density, the Play Store icon and the web icons in one ZIP.

  2. What size should an app icon be?

Start from 1024 × 1024 pixels. The App Store and Xcode use a single 1024 px icon, Google Play needs 512 × 512, Android launchers use 48 to 192 px depending on screen density, and favicons go down to 16 px. One 1024 px source covers them all.

  3. Does it make Android adaptive and monochrome icons?

Yes. Every pack has an adaptive icon for Android 8 and later. Tick the themed icon option to add a monochrome layer for Android 13 themed icons. It works for flat icons on a plain background; if your icon's shape can't be separated cleanly, the pack leaves the layer out and the README says so.

  4. Should I round the corners first?

No. Upload a square icon with no rounded corners. iOS and Android apply their own masks, and a pre-rounded icon ends up with a light frame or double corners.

  5. Is this app icon resizer free?

The AI Icon Creator app icon resizer is free and needs no sign-up. Your image is resized in your browser and never uploaded, and you can make as many packs as you like.

  6. I don't have an icon yet. Can it make one?

This tool only resizes an icon you already have. To make a new one, the AI Icon Creator studio generates app icons in curated styles from a short description, and its downloads include this same pack.
